The Ameru community in Isiolo has given ex-Wabera MCA Salesio Kiambi and Witherford Mwirigi greenlight to vie for Wabera and Bulapesa MCA seats.
Led by Ameru Turiamwe group, the community expressed need for Mr Kiambi to be elected back to allow him complete several development projects he started during his tenure.
Mr Mwirigi was picked for having allegedly garnered the highest number of votes in previous polls.
Mr Kiambi seeks to dethrone MCA Abdi Duba while Mr Mwirigi, MCA Idd Hassan Kimathi.
Ameru Turiamwe chair Paul Mugambi said they had decided to support the candidates to ensure they (community) do not lose the positions for fielding many contestants and urged the others who lost to support the pair.
“We do not hate the other contestants but if we have many contestants we are likely to lose everything. I know there are some who are likely to go against the community’s opinion but they will be on their own,” he said.
His sentiments were echoed by Baraza Park Muungano leader Ms Marcella Nkui who welcomed the announcement saying it will ensure the community has representatives in the next government.
“I have been wondering what is wrong with our community because all other communities have sat down and agreed on who to represent them but I am happy that we have finally narrowed down to the two,” she maintained.
The Press Point is reliably informed that the two candidates might still have to battle it out with several other candidates from the community who have maintained that they will vie with or without the endorsements.
