The body of Tom Okwach who was buried alive after shaft at Abimbo Gold Mine in Bondo, Siaya collapsed in December last year has been retrieved.
The miners were trapped over 15 feet in the shaft.
His family’s plea for support earlier fell on deaf ears with hopes for ever finding the body of their loved one fading with each passing day.
Some of the relatives were almost considering burying a banana sucker to symbolize the departed one to make them feel they had bid goodbye their kin.
Eight miners were rescued alive and one body recovered after the December 8 incident.
