Four prison warders have been arrested for obtaining over Sh2 million, from two Kenyans who had been promised employment letters in the recently concluded police recruitment exercise.

The warders reportedly sold fake letters of offer to Stellah Kemunto and Joash Ounde, who immediately realized that they had been duped and reported the matter at Kiamumbi police station.

A manhunt was commenced immediately leading to the arrest of the four at CIATA City mall in Ridgeways, Kiambu County, where they were found hawking the documents.

Industrial Area depot’s Sergeant Violet Gachomo, Corporals Florence Wanjiku Ndung’u and Beatrice Wambui Kamau based at Kenya prisons headquarters and Industrial Area remand prison’s Ben Mburu accomplices escaped in a black Toyota vehicle.

Twenty fake appointment letters and several academic documents belonging to different applicants were recovered from the suspects and in a Toyota Probox that had been turned to a recruitment bureau.

The main suspect identified as Jefferson Kivuva is still at large.

The four suspects will be arraigned tomorrow .
