Some 20 County Commissioners have been transferred and four recalled to the headquarters in a major shakeup at the Kithure Kindiki’s Ministry of Interior and National Adminstration that has also seen 12 deputy county commissioners promoted.
Nandi’s Herman Shambi and Mathias Rioba, Michael Ivuto and Stephen Kihara of Trans Nzoia, Kirinyaga and Embu have been recalled and replaced by Caroline Mueni (promoted), Gideon Oyagi (outg Kwale CC), Nayioma Tobiko (promoted) and Joshua Nkanatha (outg Kiambu CC) respectively.
Nakuru County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo has been moved to Vihiga replacing Susan Waweru who is the new Nairobi commissioner while Taita Taveta’s Loyford Kibaara has replaced Mr Kitiyo.
Mandera’s Onesmus Kyatha has been replaced by Nyandarua counterpart Amos Mariba after his transfer to Nyamira County following departure of Michael Lesimam to Kericho.
Mr Erastus Mbui has been transferred from Kitui to Migori replacing Michael Mwangi Meru who will take over from Mr Oyagi, the new Trans Nzoia County Commissioner.
Homabay’s Moses Lilan replaces Mr Mbui while Narok’s Isaac Masinde will take charge of Homabay following deployment of promoted Deputy County Commissioner David Kariuki Gitonga to his previous station.
Karuku Ngumo of Murang’a has been replaced by promoted Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Mukuria after transfer to Wajir while Tharaka Nithi’s Nobert Komora is the new Marsabit boss with his post set to be replaced by promoted DCC Wesley Koech Mabwa.
Nyeri’s Mohammed Barre has been moved to Nyandarua and his post replaced by Samburu East Deputy County Commissioner Pius Murugu Mugambi who will be making a comeback to the county where he previously worked before his deployment to Samburu, a post he held for about three years.
Ms Josephine Onunga and Mr Paul Famba both from headquarters are the new Taita Taveta and Machakos County Commissioners respectively while Baringo’s Abdirisack Jaldesa has been moved to Mombasa and replaced by promoted DCC Stephen Kutwa.
Thomas Sankei of Tana River has been moved to Bungoma and Kisumu’s Josephine Ouko to Busia with promoted DCC Gerishon Mathioya replacing her.
Other DCCs who have been promoted include Jack Obuo, Josephat Biwott, Louis Rono and Bejah M’mbesta who are now the new Kiambu, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River county commissioners respectively.
A total of 15 county commissioners among them Isiolo’s Geoffrey Omoding and his Meru, Samburu and Laikipia counterparts Fredrick Ndunga, Henry Wafula and Joseph Kanyiri have been retained in their workstations.
Others are Dr Ahmed Omar (Bomet), Tom Anjere (Kisii), Jacob Ouma (Turkana), Felix Watakila (Kajiado), Joseph Ondego (Kakamega), Jim Njoka (Siaya), Boaz Cherotich (Garissa), William Kaimba (Makueni), Dr Eddyson Nyale (Uasin Gishu), John Korir (Elgeyo Marakwet) and West Pokot’s Apollo Okello.
Eight DCCs were also transferred in the March 7 reshuffle that Prof Kindiki said were meant to enhance service delivery in the ministry.
Isiolo’s Samuel Gichohi moves to Tiaty East while Mumoni’s Lydia Munyi replaces Kajiado West counterpart Moranga Morekwa who has been transferred to Tana North following departure of James Taari to Kajiado North.
Kajiado North’ Patrick Mwangi replaces Samburu East DCC Murugu who has been promoted to Nyeri County Commissioner while Thagicu’s Catherine Kamathai and Vihiga counterpart Aaron Omaset moved to Mathare and Tiaty West respectively.
Kimilili’s Abdihakim Jubat has been transferred to Transmara South.
