Three people have died and several others critically injured in an accident involving a public service vehicle (PSV) and a motorbike along Sagana-Kagio road in Kirinyaga County.

According to reports, a bodaboda rider ferrying two passengers towards Sagana town from Kagio collided head on with the matatu headed the opposite direction.

The rider and his two passengers died on the spot while six passengers who were in the matatu sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Sagana Health Centre for treatment.

The bodies were moved to Murang’a County Referral Hospital mortuary.

Kirinyaga County Police boss Mathew Mang’ira said they had launched investigations to establish the cause of the Friday morning incident even as residents lamented over increasing accidents in the area.

The locals appealed to the government to put in place measures such as erection of speed bumps to reduce the rate of deaths at the black spot.
