Family Bank has opened its first branch in Isiolo town as it seeks to expand its services in the Northern region bringing its total branches countrywide to 93.

The branch was officially opened on Thursday by CEO Rebecca Mbithi, Board Chair Dr Wilfred Kiboro, founder Titus Muya, and Isiolo County Secretary Dr Ahmed Galgalo.

Dr Galgalo, who represented Governor Mohammed Kuti, asked the bank to consider locals during employment and intervene in cushioning residents against the biting effects of drought, through corporate social responsibility.

“There is a need to consider products that are Sharia-compliant so that our people benefit. I urge the business community to take advantage of the opportunities offered,” he appealed.

Dr Kiboro said the bank will undertake several corporate social responsibility activities and collaborate with other partners for improved livelihoods.

During the event in Isiolo town, Ms Mbithi reiterated the bank’s commitment to providing quality services and financial solutions to the residents’ needs.

While stressing on the need for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of their loans to grow their businesses, Ms Mbithi assured that Sharia-compliant products will be introduced.

“In line with our capital raising strategy, the bank, seeks to strengthen its capital base to support growth and onward lending activities to MSMEs across different sectors,” she said.

Dr Galgalo said the county government will continue to partner with various development actors and create an enabling environment for collaborations.

The financial institution boasts of having a strong retail customer base with a key focus on SME Banking.

In attendance was Isiolo County Trade and Tourism Executive Halima Abgudo, Chief Officers Lucy Kaburu (Trade and Cooperatives), Benjamin Lopetet (Livestock) Mustafa Kuntulo (Administration) Philip Lenaiyasa (Gender and Culture) and Ms Amina Abdi Dulacha of Environment.
