At least 140 youths who used to roam in Meru streets have graduated at the Meru Youth Service (MYS) Igoji Training Centre after undergoing training on behaviour and mindset change.
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi reiterated his government’s commitment to empowering youth to liberate them from poverty, hopelessness, apathy and unemployment.
He said the transformed former street children will join Meru National Polytechnic for advanced skills training. Others will join Agribusiness venture in partnership with the county government while the younger ones will be enrolled at Igoji Boarding Primary School.
During the event graced by Education CAS Zack Kinuthia, the Governor said those who had acquired painting and interior design skills will be involved in painting all government facilities.
