A section of Ameru elders have declared their support for Isiolo North MP aspirant Mwenda Thuranira and rallied the community and Isiolo residents to vote for him in the August elections.

Speaking during a meeting that brought together dozens of the elders from Tigania, Imenti and Igembe subtribes, they said Mr Thuranira was the most suitable to represent the interests of the county residents as he had previously proven his capabilities through several charity initiatives.

Led by Mr Moses Gitonga, the elders said that the community had been neglected by the current leaders and vowed to elect someone who would safeguard their interests.

“We have seen him (Mr Thuranira) helping those in need by donating wheelchairs and sponsoring needy learners and he is not occupying any elective post,” said Mr Gitonga.

His sentiments were echoed by Mr Ignatius Ncabari and Geoffrey Atiku who said they will immediately reach out to other communities in Isiolo to support his candidature.

“We have seen what he has already started doing for the community and we know he can do more if elected,” said Mr Nchabari.

Mr Thuranira lauded the elders saying he was ready to serve all the communities if elected as the area MP.

“This is clear indication that my community and Isiolo residents have trust in me and I commit to serve all communities regardless of their tribe and religion,” he said.

The aspirant who is vying on Party of National Unity (PNU) is among the more than 10 contestants for the seat alongside incumbent Hassan Odha and former MP Joseph Samal.
