Former South Africa President Jacob Zuma has been jailed for refusing to appear before a panel investigating graft during his nine-year-tenure as the Head of State.

A top court sentenced Zuma, who stepped down in 2018 over graft scandals, to 15 months after finding him guilty of contempt of court.

The 79-year-old skipped an order by the court in January to testify before the investigators prompting the commission to seek to have him imprisoned for defying the order.

The commission went to court seeking to have Zuma jailed for two years for defying the order.
