The family of a 37-year-old mother of three whose body was found in a bush in Bustani village in Taita Taveta has asked police to quickly arrest of the perpetrator (s).

It is suspected that Anna Achieng was raped before being killed and her body dumped near her home as she was found lying half-naked and mutilated by the children while going to church.

The family suspect she might have been attacked while on the way from work Saturday evening.

Reports indicate that her neighbour who she had earlier accused of withholding her Chama money had during the day called her to go pick the money at his home.

After leaving work, she is believed to have passed by the neighbour’s home to collect the money but did not return home.

The neighbour would 11PM that night visit the woman’s home promising to give the woman the money, according to the deceased children.

Her relatives’ say Achieng was hit on the head with a blunt object as had bruises on the face.

The male neighbour, the bereaved family claims, was behind the crime and wondered why he had gone into hiding after the children linked him to the incident.

He is being sought by police over links to the incident.

Taveta Sub County Police Commander Ibrahim Muchuma said investigations into the incident were underway and that manhunt for the culprit (s) was on.
