Garissa Governor Ali Korane on Monday, before Anti-Corruption court, denied cospiracy to commit an economic crime, flouting procurement rules relating to management of county funds and embezzlement of public coffers.

The Governor was last year charged with four others over alleged misappropriation of a World Bank grant worth Sh233 million and barred from accessing his office.

Together with Ahmed Abdullahi Aden, Ibrahim Malow Nur, Abdi Shale and Mohamed Ahmed Abdullahi, the Governor reportedly committed the offence between February 2019 and September 2019 within Garissa county.

The four are said to have mismanaged Sh233, 506, 000 allocated to the Garissa County government as a conditional grant through the Kenya Urban Support Programme.

The case was adjourned for three weeks.
