The High Court has refused to issue orders barring the Ministry of Health from implementing a directive requiring all persons seeking in person services from December 21 to be fully vaccinated.

Justice Anthony Mrima declined to shelve the directive until a petition filed by a human rights activist is determined.

Activist Winfred Ochieng through a petition filed in court argues that the directive is unrealistic and oppressive as there is an interval of only four weeks within which Kenyans are expected to comply with the directive.

Mr Ochieng says that the World Health Organization advises that the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines should be administered dually over a period of two months which cannot be achieved by Kenyans who are yet to receive their first doses.

The matter will be heard on December 20, 2021.
