Immediate former Directorate of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti has handed over the office to his deputy Hamisi Massa who will serve in acting capacity for the next 14 days.

Mr Kinoti who has been at the helm of the CID since 2018 resigned days ago with National Police Service Commission immediately advertising for the post.

“NPSC appoints Dr Massa Hamisi Salim in an acting capacity, until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days,” read a statement from the NPSC.

Mr Kinoti joined the Kenya Police in 1992 as a recruit constable before rising to be the country’s eleventh top detective in 2018.

Interested candidates have until October 6 to apply for the position with applicants required to have among others a proven record of at least 10 years in the management level in public service.

“The dare devil, battle hardened detective who faced off with armed criminal gangs on his way to the top, has had an illustrious career that propelled him to head various specialized units, that hunted down dangerous criminals in the country prior to his appointment,” DCI shared.
