The Law Society of Kenya has appealed to the Judiciary to hold accountable court officers who misplace court files.
Led by Mombasa branch chairperson Mathew Nyabena, the society lamented rising cases of missing files in courts and wondered how those responsible were still walking scot-free.
The advocate said it was unfortunate that cases would be in the case list but the file would not be traced in the same court and urged the Judiciary to move in haste and address the menace.
According to Mr Nyabena, it is the responsibility of Chief Justice Martha Koome to get into the bottom of the issue and ensure action is taken against cartels who could be colluding with the officers to avert justice.
The society also wants an increase in the number of court officers that they said would help quickly handle election petitions later in the year.
