The multi-agency security team carrying out an operation in Marsabit has recovered one HK 21 machine gun with 31 belted live rounds of ammunition.

The gun was handed over to Dirib Gombo chief Katelo Galgalo.

Earlier today, Qirta Korma chief Kosi Halake handed over one modified HK 21 machine gun with 29 belted rounds of ammunition.

The recovery brings to 138 the total guns seized since the operation kicked off in April.

The weapons include those from recoveries from the ongoing operation and voluntary surrender.

Mr Bernard Mbatha, in-charge of the operation “Rudisha Amani Marsabit” last Saturday said a total of 136 guns had been confiscated.

Four AK-47 rifles and 138 bullets were last week found buried in a plane field.

Eight suspects were arrested three weeks ago in Manyatta Adhi Huqa with three AK-47, a G3 rifle and a general purpose machine gun.

More than 500 rounds of ammunition and 66 spent cartridges were also seized during the May 11 recovery.
