An activist-cum-politician has castigated Isiolo North MP Hassan Odha for not taking education matters seriously.
Ms Lucy Mworia, who has expressed interest in dethroning the MP, said it was unfortunate that Mr Odha had focused on ‘other irrelevant issues’ leaving out education which is a crucial empowerment component.
Ms Mworia said Isiolo residents must shun such leaders who are self-centered and with no community interest at heart in the forthcoming 2022 General elections.
Speaking during the opening of a girls’ rescue centre at Mwangaza Primary School attended by several stakeholders, Ms Mworia took issues with the MP’s absence and questioned his modus operandi.
“It is very sad that the MP did not send a representative. Who is going to ensure that the issues raised here and directed to his office are addressed?” she posed adding “There is need to take education matters seriously and if you are not available, do you expect people to come to your home?”
The politician assured the crowd that she will, if elected MP, adequately represent and address residents’ concerns and initiate and support education development programs.
“Mimi ni mbunge niliyesimama nikisubiri kuketi. Naomba mniunge mkono na mnipe kura zenu katika uchaguzi ujao (translated to I am a ‘standing MP’ waiting to sit. Please support and vote me in 2022),” Ms Mworia told the residents.
MP Odha was unreachable for comment.
