Four people found guilty of aiding murder of a woman who went missing in June 2017 only for her headless body to be found a month later will know their fate in three weeks time.
Ronald Ogwangi Ondieki, Joseph Odicho Adogo, Lameck Rioba Sakawa and Evans Nyoka Ongeri are staring at life in prison after Kisii High Court Judge Rose Ougo found them culpable of aiding the crime.
Catherine Sarange was reportedly killed after she refused to sell her land to a neighbour and her body is still lying at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting the April 21 judgment.
Thursday, the judge said there was no compelling evidence linking the four to the murder of the woman but they tried to conceal the crime as narrated by the deceased’ children.
The accused persons were seen in the woman’s homestead the night she was murdered and were spotted carrying what is believed to be the woman’s body in a sack.
The four had reportedly threatened the late woman over a land dispute whose case was still underway and which she was to appear in court for the following day after she went missing.
The court cancelled the bail for the four and ordered their detainment at Kisii GK Prison awaiting their sentencing.
They had been granted Sh500, 000 bond and two sureties of same amount in August 2018.
