A section of education stakeholders in Isiolo County have lauded Education CAS Mumina Bonaya for lobbying for the promotion of two local education officials to Sub-County Directors.

Ms Safia Golo, is set to replace outgoing Isiolo Sub-County Director of Education John Nzinga who has been transferred to Lamu while Peter Lemasuleni who was formerly Chief Education Officer in Garbatulla has been deployed to take over as the Merti Director of Education.

Led by County Parents Association officials, the group welcomed the promotion of the pair saying it will greatly improve service delivery as the officers were well versed with education challenges bedevilling the region.

Parents Chair Ismael Galma said the CAS had contributed to improved education standards in the county that had lagged behind for a long time.

“We initially had many challenges including low enrolment of learners but her intervention has come in so handy,” said Mr Galma.

The CAS, they said, also lobbied for funds to set up an office for Merti Sub-County Director of Education after several years of operating from rented offices.

“The outgoing (Merti) officer has been operating from a rented house but establishment of an office will improve service delivery,” Mr Galma’s Vice Adan Kulo claimed.

He appealed to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to expedite deployment of teachers in Urura, Alango, Matarba among other primary schools in Merti that are experiencing staff shortages.
