Two Makueni-based teachers on Monday evening escaped death by a whisker after police officers rescued them from angry mob that was baying for their blood.

The teachers had reportedly been given a token of Sh1 million by a politician who was campaigning in the county yesterday but refused to share with bodaboda operators and Mama Mbogas.

With the furious mob trailing them behind, the teachers sought refuge at Kambu Police Post where police officers had hard time calming the crowd.

Some of them started hurling stones towards the officers who had to seek reinforcement from Mtito a Ndei to successfully disperse the protesters.

Investigations into the incident have been launched, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said.
