A 19-year-old woman from Kimilili in Bungoma has been arrested for allegedly strangling her newborn baby in hospital.
The woman, who delivered at Webuye County Hospital, is said to have killed the days old girl at the facility’s nursery.
Webuye East police boss Martha Ngetich said the woman was assisting in ongoing probe.
Cases of women giving birth and dumping their newborns in pit latrines, abandoning them by the roadside or killing them have been on the rise in the region.
