Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino have openly castigated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for allegedly shortchanging members who fought hard to popularize the party and rewarding others who made meagre contribution.
MP Owino claimed that the party had promised him the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chair position but was ostensibly planning to hand it to nominated party Chair and Nominated MP John Mbadi.
“Why should Mr Mbadi come down from the position of Majority leader to PAC chair which was reserved for me? This will not happen. Over my dead body. Young people must get their space. It is now or never. He has already been rewarded through nomination,” Mr Owino lamented.
The lawmaker also accused the party of blackmail and betrayal despite having spent his resources for the outfit.
Mr Mbadi who was nominated to the Parliament after he lost in ODM’s Homabay gubernatorial primaries to incumbent Gladys Wanga insists he is the senior most in party hierarchy and most experienced MP to be considered for PAC Chairmanship.
Mr Olekina expressed disappointment in the party’s ‘rewarding formula’ saying he had had enough of being kept in the political cold within the party.
“It is about time we demand what is ours. Enough of always being kept in arms away while others chill in their cribs and are rewarded with the lion’s share of party positions,” he shared.
The lamentations come ahead of party’s next week’s crisis meeting with its elected leaders convened by leader Raila Odinga.
